Utah Allies and Love146

**********************************************************************************

About two years ago I came upon an organization called Love146. You may have seen their logo sewn or pinned to my clothing and belongings or around my neck, or on this blog and wondered what in the world it means. Love146 is an organization actively working to end child sex slavery and child exploitation of any kind throughout the world. Some of you may be shocked to learn that young children, girls and boys, are being lured into prostitution against their will, many by people they trust and know. They are also forced to work in warehouses or act as slaves. Some of you may acknowledge slavery might exist, but only in 3rd world countries, not here in the US or even in your state. I wish that were true. There have been many cases of child sex trafficking in the US as well. These things are happening in our communities to the children around us and it breaks my heart.

As with most problems, the solution lies within the involvement of the people around it. Human trafficking can be hard to recognize because of the manner in which children are lured into it. But with the proper information they can be spotted and stopped. Love146.org looks to end child sex slavery and exploitation by educating the communities of the world on the issue so that the problem is more easily recognized. Love146 also aids victims of slavery and exploitation in their recovery and entrance back into society. History shows us you cannot simply go in and stop an evil deed. Our efforts are wasted if the damage done is not repaired.

Please take the time to go to http://love146.org/love-story. I ask you to read their story and watch the short video of their history. That’s all; you can walk away at that point go back to reading my blog, I won’t hate you if you do. If you then find yourself wanting to know more I would ask you to continue your research on their site. Love146 has provided links throughout their site with information regarding human trafficking and exploitation. Learn more about the issue and what Love146 is doing to end it. If you then find yourself wanting to do more I would ask that you join me.

Love146 has recently launched their official Task Force site so that groups throughout the world can be more organized, receive the information/education they need on the issue and communicate directly with each other and Love146 in ending this.

I have created a task force with Love146 called Utah Allies. If you live in Utah I am inviting you to join this task force.  If you live outside of Utah you can look for or create a task force in your area.  But it is important that you know what you’re getting into first. I promise it’s not scary, but it is serious. You can find information on this by going to http://www.146taskforce.org/ and clicking on Task Force 101 at the left. This will give you the information you need to know regarding what is required of you as a task force member. Joining is free. It would require a small amount of your time for a meeting once a month and for at least one fundraiser each year.

If you are still interested, or even still reading this message, you can register an account at that same site. Then (if you’re in the area, basically Utah) you can join our task force by visiting http://146taskforce.org/utah-allies  and requesting membership once you have registered. I’ll be in contact with you from there. A single task force is generally made up of 5-20 people so if we get too large we’ll create a few more. For those of you in other states, again look for a task force in your area on that site. You can email and questions you may have on this directly to me at thisishalee@gmail.com

This is a daunting task and does require your time and efforts. If it is not something you are able to do at this time, no hard feelings, I understand. The offer is always open and at the very least you are now aware of a growing problem, which was my main goal. In the last few months I have had the desire to do something more, something that would have a larger impact on the world around me. This is the way I want to do that right now. Slavery is not dead, but it should and will be. I appreciate your support in any and all forms and if you’re still awake I appreciate you reading all the way through this.

Stay safe and take care of you,

Halee
